I'm originally from Europe and currently working in Canada on a work permit tied to a company. I'm here since 5 month and plan on applying for the PR via CEC next year, once I have worked here for 12 month.
I just got a job offer from another canadian company were I would work 6 weeks (mostly in countries outside Canada) followed by six weeks off (which I would spend in Canada) and then 6 weeks on the job again. This company would be able to get another work permit for me for at least 2 years, or until I get my PR.

Now to my questions:
- I would be employed with a canadian company, but mainly working outside of Canada, does this time still count towards the 12 month (or as of now the 24 month) requirement?
- Does it make any difference that I'm spending the 6 weeks off in Canada?

Before I take this job I want to make sure that I will not risk the permanent residency!

Thanks in advance for any response!

As the name of the program implies, it is about Canadian experience. I've seen at least one application rejected due to experience outside of Canada but working for a Canadian company.

If you have to travel or occasionally stay outside (e.g. for providing or receiving training, attending business events, meeting customers, etc.) that won't be a problem but if actual work happens outside Canada then it is not Canadian experience.

- No, this time won't count towards the 12/24 months. You must be physically working in Canada for the time to count.
- No, it doesn't make any difference that you're spending the 6 weeks off in Canada.

Thanks to both of you for the very fast response! I guess I'll stick with my current job for a little longer in this case!! ;)
