Hi,

I've been here in Canada for a few years now, and currently waiting for my PR and Open work permit to be approved (which will take forever)
Was on a closed work permit until recently when my company shut down, and now I'm currently on maintained status.

Currently, it seems like very few companies are willing to sponsor work permits etc due to bad timing

So now I'm looking into the possibilities of working remotely without a permit.
I found this page which states that remote job seems to not be considered Work in Canada:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...y-residents/foreign-workers/what-is-work.html
long distance (by telephone or Internet) work done by a temporary resident whose employer is outside Canada and who is remunerated from outside Canada

Does anyone have any experience with this? I assume it would be fine to take a remote job with a company that doesn't operate in Canada?
Do I still pay my taxes here in Canada?

Yes, this is fine as long as they do no business / have no customers in Canada.

Yes, you would still need to file taxes in Canada on your worldwide income.
