Hello guys, I feel very sad because my company refused to give me a reference letter as the NOC I'm working on.
They have an official document with a general description of the main duties. So I work as data scientist but they just mentioned one duty related data bases in a general concept. They don't mention anything about the machine learning models I work on, the SQL data bases I make, use and integrate, the use of R and RStudio, and so on...
So they refused to put the duties I wrote for them in the reference letter. Long story short, the reference letter they offered to give me is useless...
Now I don't know what to do, I'm feeling totally disappointed with the company... they don't care about my future...
If I ask to my boss I'll be very uncomfortable situation from now on.
Nevertheless I have a coworker who can sign a letter declaring my duties because we work together in the projects but he is from a different department. Can this work?
Also I found a job post of the company from 9 months ago for a similar role as mine and it shows more detail into the roles required but is not exactly the same as the main duties I wrote. So can my friend sign my duties and can I use the job post even if they are not 100% the same?
Finally, I found a post related to what to do in this case and the writer mentioned that I should only ask for a letter containing MINIMUM Information confirming that I worked in the company, the position and the salary.
Is this correct? Is this better instead of using the letter with the main duties according to the company?
I also have some emails where they answered me refusing to give me the letter as I need but I have two concerns with it... since I'm on quarantine and I work in a Department in which workers aren't allowed to access their emails from outside the office I wrote from my gmail.
However, since the human department don't have this restriction they answered from their corporative email. So as you see I used my personal email while they used their corporative email. And the second concern is that I asked this letter considering that i want to apply to a Master program in Canada and I need to proof work related skills. I mean, I didn't mentioned anything about the migration because I could have problems later on.
Hopefully somebody can read me and tell me his/her suggestions.
I'm totally devastated...
