Hello.Im an american citizen, i got married with candian citizen .we are living in Ottawa.Im looking for job right now, but i need to have a work permit.what should i do and how, my first steps to start my process for work permit.what is a time frame?

1. You find an employer.
2. The employer applies for a Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC after advertising the position for 2 weeks on the job bank.
3. Employer has to demonstrate that there are no Canadians or Permanent Resident available or qualified for the job and you have the qualifications.
4. Processing time for LMO 8-12 weeks.
5. If approved, then you can apply for a work permit at a border office.
6. I really think that you should be looking at spousal sponsorship.
