work permit while waiting for refugee appeal ?

My wife's refugee protection claim was denied last year and we submitted our notice of appeal on November 30th 2017. We are still waiting for the RAD decision now it's June 2018. Her current work permit is expiring in August and we're wondering how to extend it. Submitting a work permit application based on refugee status has been refused. Any advise from the community would be most appreciated !

I don't believe she qualifies for a new work permit while under appeal.
