Work permit VS Multiple Entry

I hope someone else have had this issue before me and already came up with right answer/solution.

a guy enters into Canada with 10 years multiple Entry (TRV) , he finds a job through LMO and goes to border and get his work permit for two years.

1. can he keep the 10 years multiple entry TRV ? or does he has to change it to two years because of his work permit?

2. if he keeps the 10 years multiple TRV , does he has to leave Canada and return every 6 months ?
