Hello,

First off apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.

I’m a doctor from a Middle Eastern country who has a job offer for a specialty training program in BC. I’ve applied for my work permit/visa around one month ago and done my biometrics.

I’m a bit paranoid about the whole Corona thing. Are visas and permits getting rejected based on this?

Thanks!

No - they are not being rejected based on this.

Sure you already know this but fellowships don’t operate like other jobs they are viewed as skill training so that other countries can benefit from advanced training. They also aren’t a path to get licensed as an IMG. Just mentioning this because other IMGs have thought this is a good pathway to remain in Canada or if theydid a fellowship they wouldn’t have to get licensed and then repeat their residency if they can secure one. I understand how it may be confusing. Canada will allow you to practice medicine as a fellow but after the fellowship require you to go backwards and repeat a residency if you want to continue practicing in Canada.
