Hi there,

I have a question about my current work permit.

Got my 2-year Work Permit at the end of February with 2-Year LMO(under 2-Year Job Offer) from my employer. However, since things got slowed down in the company, they can no longer keep my current rate. So would my work permit get taken away because of that?
And, when I apply for CEC, would those work experience be ignored?

Thanks a lot.

Your question is not clear at all, so many 2yr thing in it which is unclear to understand date of issue and expiry.
but whatever I understood is tht employer is not willing to pay you for whatever wage he offered you on contract. Legally any conditions on LMO if changed without approval will cancel the LMO, but the onus is on employer here, so in case if employer is not hiring you on same number of hours and specially he is not paying you exactly same (paying 15% higher is acceptable) he is breaking the compliance and will get penalized, but for sake for your PR application dont complain. Just either look for better employer or just keep working with existing employer, Remember always even if you lose your job you can stay in country till the expiry of your current work permit (you cant join new employer until you get new lmo and WP)
But if you lose job and employer call Service canada about your removal then you cant use that work permit and LMO for PR. So maintain good relations with employer so that you can show a temporary break in your employment and not a layoff.

Hmm... I don't think you should accept a rate that is lower than what is on your LMO. Check with Service Canada if that is allowed. Are they also reducing rates for Canadian citizens/permanent residents in the company or just you?

Thank you for the reply guys.

I got the 2-year LMO at last November and they issued my Work Permit(2 years) at the end of February.

I'm the only foreign worker in the company since it's a pretty small TV production company. Because they have no show starting maybe until January, they laid off everyone and also have to reduce my rate or I get no money at all. And getting a LMO in Television field is really hard so I don't think I'd be able to get another one in a short period.
Also, in case I get a new work permit from another employer, would my current one get invalid automatically? Or I can keep both?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Yes your current job will be invalid if you have new work permit :)

Thank you so much. It's really unfortunately that my company is going through this hard time. They are really nice to me so I do want to stay but I also will have financial problem if they reduce my rate or even lay me off.

Thank you again.

You should begin looking for work, if not in TV production in another field. As long as it's a skilled job, you will be able to apply for PR.
