Work Permit - Montreal - How much time?

All,

Whats the earliest time in which one can get the Work Permit approved for an employer in Montreal? I am recruiting with an employer and I am not sure about the Work permit process at all. I am in the middle of job interview process and if all goes well I should have an offer soon. I have no idea if the LMIA is required or not? Is it dependent on the salary?

Also I have applied for PR under EE and I am currently in my 4th month since AOR and awaiting the PPR.

How long it will take will depend on whether an LMIA is required. No - an LMIA is not dependent on salary. You'll have to check to see if your job falls under any LMIA exemptions. The LMIA process requires one month of advertising according to the rules of the LMIA process (which your employer has most likely not met with any advertising done so far). Processing of the actual LMIA application takes anywhere from 10 days to 4+ months.

Is your employer familiar with the LMIA process? Do they know if an LMIA is required? Have they hired foreign workers before?

Thanks. Yes my employer has hired many foreign workers earlier and its a well known company. I am not sure if LMIA is required or not for the role for which I am recruiting- How to find that out?
