Hi, I'm wondering if anyone might have some insight into this issue. I'm a US citizen who was born in China and has a PHD from a US well known accredited university. All my paperwork confirms this (photo, diploma, passport; offer letter was NOT asked for) . I applied for a postdoctoral work permit (IMM1295E) and was denied, the reason cited being
• You failed to present evidence to demonstrate that you qualify for an open work permit from outside Canada in accordance with section 204, 205 or 207(b) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
Does anyone have any idea what exactly is missing in my application? First off I don't think I asked for refugee protection...
A possible issue is that I left the country on vacation while the application was being processed but I was assured by many others that that should have no effect. I really don't want to reapply until I have a compelling reason why this went wrong, considering it should have been a really easy thing...
