Hello,

I had post graduate work permit which got expired last month. Now, I have applied for extension without LMIA, solely based on my current job letter, pay stubs and NOA.Currently, I have 2 years of experience as Financial Analyst and I have consulted a lot of immigration lawyers. Most of them claim that I require LMIA for open work permit extension. Therefore, I am in dilemma as to what exactly are the requirements ?
Please advice.

You require an LMIA. The extension will be either refused or rejected as incomplete. If it is rejected as incomplete, it would mean any work done since your PGWP expired would be illegal.

PGWP cant be extended. Why didn't you apply for PR after getting 1 year experience?

Also, if you applied AFTER the PGWP expired, there is no "implied status" and any work would be illegal anyway.

I'm sorry but you have very few options to stay in canada now pgwp can never be extended. (Only in some conditions for example if you had a nomination from a province )

Also would not be an open work permit. Had your employer received an LMIA you would have applied for a closed work permit.
