Hello Everyone,

I am a foreign worker on a work permit right now. And I believe that my chances of landing a PR are pretty low. So I am planning to get a Work Extension Permit to extend my stay here in Canada. For the same, I would like you advice.

I am currently working in Technical Sales which falls under Category B as per the NOC Classification. I joined and started working at this position from Sep 26, 2016.

So if anyone knows the way by which I can get my permit extended even for 6 months that will be great.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi

You haven't provided much information. Where are you from? What work permit do you currently hold?

From what you've said, you do not qualify for any form of open work permit. This means that to continue working, you would need to apply for a closed work permit. In order to do that, your employer must first obtain a positive LMIA; the employer must pay $1000 and meet strict requirements, such as advertising the job for at least a month and showing that they couldn't find a Canadian citizen/PR to do the job.

If your employer isn't willing to apply for an LMIA, then there is most likely no way for you to apply for another work permit.
