Work permit extension- Refused

So S**t got worse guys. Just received a letter from CIC. Work permit extension got refused, for obvious reason. No positive LMIA so far. So got a 90 days restoration period. So i believe i can not work till i get the restoration and LMIA worked out right?

Not sure if you guys read my earlier posts. LMIA was returned two times saying incomplete application and the third time wrong forms which they keep changing every month. So applying fourth time now. Need some help with schedule C guys. Please help

Yes - you have to stop working immediately.

Once you have the approved LMIA you'll need to apply to restore your status. Once your status restoration request has been approved and you have a new work permit, you'll be able to start working again.

ugh the exact same thing happened to me, except Service Canada took six months to issue my (LMO at the time) and they issued it exactly ONE WEEK after my application was refused. After applying again it took four months for my work permit to be issued, since the restoration of status takes longer. It was like 5 months without being able to work and without being able to leave the country, because if you leave Canada, you'll have to apply again from outside Canada (that's what they told me at the call centre. I hadn't found this forum yet. Don't know if it's 100% true.)

It was a very very stressful period (I started to lose my hair -and I'm a girl-) so I know what this is like for you. Just be patient and don't despair, and if you don't hear back from CIC just remember it will come one day! I wish I knew about this forum back then. Your restoration of status won't be too hard because this was out of your control, it was because of LMIA paperwork instead of something about you that the work permit was denied.

Yes, it is totally annoying. We have been trying to apply for my lmia since july . The application returned three times for silly reasons. Now the workpermit expired. Cant get worse.

I have a question. How were u able to stay more than 90 days since u get only that period to restore your status?are you allowed to stay if your application is under process? And when can u exactly start working?

I had 90 days to apply for restoration of status. As soon as I applied, I was in Canada legally awaiting a decision for my restoration of status. I couldn't work though. Or go to school. Or leave. Or live.

I was allowed to start work from the moment my work permit was issued. I saw online that my application had been accepted, even though for some reason I didn't receive my permit until a month and a half later but I assumed I could start working again when it said "accepted".

Ya i am totally in that situation now. Stopped working from yesterday. Have no idea how long its gonna take. Have to apply LMIA now. And hopefully it goes through this time, and then the restoration. Phew!!!!!

What is restoration?
Could you please explain that for me as I guess one of my friend is in the same situation.

Restoration is something which u apply for after you lose a status. I mean since my work permit has been refused, now i should apply for restoration to gain it back. Let me know if u need any more info
