Work Permit Extension - Implied Status & LMIA Closed Work Permit

Hi,
I need some guidance on my query below:

I have applied for a work permit extension (1st application) and presently I am on my Implied status as a worker. Suppose I get a pre approved LMIA and based on it, I go ahead and apply for a Closed Work Permit (2nd application) in parallel,

1] Will I be eligible to continue working under the Implied status of my Closed Work Permit application once I get a refusal on my 1st application?

Or

2] Will I be out of status, and stop my work until I receive a decision on my Closed Work Permit application?

Note that you will also need to apply to restore your status.
