Work permit extension got refused while having visitor record under processing

Please help,
I applied both work permit and visitor record before my work permit expired.
Today I got refused on the work permit extension and my work permit was expired in April, but have no news or update on the visitor record.
I am wondering if I am currently being legal to stay in Canada or I should apply for restoration?
Any input will be appreciated.

As you applied for the visitor extension before your previous status expired, you have Implied Status.

I am right that I can no longer work as the extension was refused?
The refusal letter indicated that my temporary status is expired today.
