Hello Everyone,

My name is Praveen, and I’m seeking some guidance regarding my friend’s situation in Ontario.

He is currently on an open work permit, which is due to expire in a few weeks. His Express Entry profile is active in the pool with a CRS score of 498. Since his permanent residence application has not yet picked(only in the pool), we are unsure if he is eligible for any temporary extension, such as a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP), before his current work permit expires.

Additionally, his spouse recently joined him in Canada (about two months ago). We would like to know if she has any options for extending her status as well.

Any insights or advice on available options would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Praveen

He can apply for a dummy extension that will only buy him a few months maximum. He does not qualify for a BOWP. Did his wife arrive on a TRV? His wife being in Canada will likely reduce his CRS score so at the moment not sure it makes sense for her to be in Canada as I assume a visitor. Where does he live and why is his NOC? Does he know French? Has he maxed out his English score? How many degrees? Both Foreign and Canadian work experience? How long? There is not obvious pathway to PR for most with a score under 500.
