Hi All,

My post graduation work permit(pgwpp) will expires in next 25 days, and i dont know what to do to remain in status.

Since i don't have money to be student again, so i was thinking that on my last week of work permit expiry date i will apply for work permit extension application so CIC will take 3 - 4 months to approve or disapprove my application and I know i will not get approved but i will be implied status so legally i can work since i was on open work permit until any decision comes. so in 3 - 4 months i can save money to become student again

my question is suppose if my work permit extension application gets rejected/disapproved since i will be on implied status by then, so how much time will i get or have to apply for new status maybe as student or visitor ?
or How much time an implied status person has once his/her application get rejected/disapproved by cic ?

do anyone have any suggestion ? what should i do ? if i apply for visitor visa then i can't work, so i am thinking to apply for work permit extension then i can save some money so i can be student or visitor if my work permit extension application get rejected

Please advise Thanks in advanced

IRCC closed that loophole. As you don't qualify for a new work permit, you would be submitting an incomplete application; if IRCC rejects the app as incomplete, you will have been out of status since the expiry of your PGWP and all work done after that point would be illegal.

Apply to change your status to visitor. If you can't afford to be in Canada without working, then you should leave.

Unfortunately there is no more options for you to remain in Canada. Working 3 to 4 months will not be enough to pay for international student school tuition and sending an incomplete work permit is not beneficial as well due to the fact that CIC already knows that applicants sending incomplete applications is to buy more time in Canada.

CIC will then refuse your application and state that your legal status will expire on the same day as your PGWP and any work done after that is considered illegal.

In addition you are criminally inadmissible so you can't even apply for CEC and PR which makes you to wait 5 years after before you'll be able to reapply. I would suggest you go back to your home country and wait the 5 years. Spending more time here will be expensive especially with no employment.

Hi Canuck Thanks for reply appreciated here is my case i applied for PR in july 2017 but it got rejected so i applied for reconsideration in Jan 2018 by explanation letter attached with application and beside this i called cic last week but they said my reconsideration application is still under review.
since there is no decision taken yet that my reconsideration application will get approved or not, so can i apply for work permit extension under this criteria or this will consider as incomplete application ?

what should i do ? if i apply for visitor visa then can i be student again can i apply for study permit on visitor visa ?

Asking for reconsideration does not qualify you for a work permit extension.

You don't qualify for a work permit and can't afford to study, so if you wish to stay in Canada, your only real option is to apply to change your status to visitor.
