Hi, I am hoping someone is able to help me!
Basically, I had until the 15/06/24 to activate my work visa. I didn't actually activate it at this time and I was maybe going to have to re-apply again in the future pools for a 2nd time. Instead, I just came into Canada for a holiday on the 11/06/24 using my eTA (which I already had and used the year before for a previous holiday).
I have went onto my IRCC account out of curiosity to check the status (thinking it was going to be invalid/expired). When I looked, it now appears on the status of my Work Permit Document as 'Your document is valid.' from the date that I entered the country (11/06/24) (without receiving a work permit) and that it expires on the 10/06/24 (2 years later).
I initially thought it was maybe a glitch in the system however, it is a very weird coincidence considering it has been updated to valid from the date that I entered the country when there was still 4 more days until the POE time expired.
Can anyone tell me what does the status of the work permit typically say when someone does not enter the country to activate their work permit by the time it is due to expire? I assume it does not typically say the document is valid.
If I was to now re-enter the country to use my now 'valid document' would the border officers then give me a work visa and I won't have to re-apply again?
It seems as if it is definitely a very very disappointing glitch in the system, or else I somehow am able to use any time within the 2 years given to get my work permit at the airport.
I cannot find any information anywhere regarding what this means or what to do so any advice or information will be super helpful. Also, I am unable to phone the IRCC as I am not in Canada and I have sent a Webform however I know that they can take a very long time to respond and I would like to know if I am able to re-apply into the pool right now/if I have to if I want a work permit with the given status of my document.
Super confusing - hope this made some sort of sense ha.
- EDIT I just realised this is under Moving to Canada from U.S. Forum.
