Hi all! thank you in advance for any help that you can provide.

I am currently working in a contract position in NOC 2161 (NOC A). I will be looking to apply for express entry under CEC once my 1-year work experience is completed. But what I would like to confirm is the following:

My First day of work: Feb 18, 2020
Last day of Contract: Feb 08, 2021

I have not taken any day off except when it was a statutory holiday. Currently, I am not sure if my company will extend my contract so in the worst-case scenario will my 1 year complete if it's 10 days earlier?

many thanks,

Technically no. You need 52 weeks of work experience to be able to count the 1 years.

What kind of work permit do you hold and when does it expire?

I hold an open work permit, and it will expire in 2022 so I have plenty of time. It's just my CRS score is 474 which for now is above the cut-off. But due to the recent bonus points announcement for french bilingual, I am afraid the draws will keep going higher. And I am not sure how long it will take me to find another job in my field. I have maximized my IELTS score and cant utilize any PNP routes either. so I was hoping 51 weeks of work experience could be considered.

thanks for replying.

You'll be short more than a week. Given your open work permit still has time on it, best option is to wait until you actually have a full year of work experience rather than rolling the dice on less than a year.

thanks Scylla for your reply. I can request my employer to extend my contract by a week. if lets say my last day is Feb 16 2021. will that be enough to fulfill the condition as that's exactly 52 weeks? thanks again

Yes - that should do it.
