Hi,

Question1: I received OINP invite on February 8, 2016. At that time I did not completed 1 year in my current company as I joined my current organization on March 5, 2015. On 5th March 2016, I completed 1 year with my current organization. My question is can I show work experience of my current organization for OINP. Why I am asking this is because at the time of receiving the invite, I did not complete 1 year but before the deadline of document submission i.e. 23rd March 2016, I have completed 1 year. reason why I want to show my current experience is that my current employer has issued a very good reference letter on company's letter head and I find it to be a good match with NOC 2161.

Question2: In order to meet criteria for Human Capital Priorities stream, I need to show minimum 1 year of experience in one NOC in recent 5 years. My profile in the recent 5 years is as follows.

a. Jan'2012-Apr'2013 with Employer1 under NOC 2161. Employer1 has denied me over an email that they do not issue reference letter with roles and responsibilities. What should I do here? Will a reference letter with my own affidavit work along with supporting docs like Offer Letter, Pay Slips, Copy of Email where they denied reference letter etc.

b. May'2013-Nov'2013 with Employer2 under NOC 1254. I have tried contacting the HR but unable to reach them. Also this experience is under 1 year. What should I do in this case?

c. Nov'2013-Feb'2015 with Employer3 under NOC 1254 or 2161. Confused with NOC here. I have a feeling that with the reference letter I received from them, NOC 2161 is more appropriate. What should I do here?

d. Mar'2015-Present with Current Employer under NOC 2161. Here, I have got a good reference letter from my employer but only confusion I have for this employer is mentioned in Questio1 above.

With Employer1 and Employer2 kind of backing out for reference letter and Employer3 NOC confusion, how should I proceed in this case. If OINP considers my current Employer experience then my problem is solved.

Please help me guys.

Not an expert by any means but here's my take.

Employer 1: Get them to issue whatever reference letter they are willing to issue. Then get a colleague or supervisor to write a letter outlining roles and responsibilities. Attach colleague's business card (or if colleague is no longer with the company, then other information tying them to the company and verifying their title). Attach other supporting docs you've listed.

Employer 2: if you can't reach them, then you can't reach them. Forget 'em at this point.

Employer 3: Go with NOC 2161 if that's what you feel speaks closer to what the letter suggests.

Employer 4: I don't have an answer to this but with Employer 1 and 3 under NOC 2161 > 1 year, this becomes a non-issue. The 1 year rule is not limited to one employer but to one occupation.

I hope this helps. All the best.
