Hi all,

Could someone pls help me out here, before I apply for PR?

I am on H1B since October '08. Prior to that I was on CPT (4mths) and OPT (8 mths), with the same company working in my field of study.
During my Master's I also worked (research work) partime in my field of study (I have the work exp letter) ......

For the point system do I count
1. only H1B time OR
2. H1B + OPT + CPT OR
3. H1B + OPT + CPT + Research work during Masters

Thanks in advance!

H1b, cpt, opt for sure as far as i understand.

Research work, only if you got paid as a research assistant kind of thing. for example, if someone does a research masters and pays for it themself, that is not work but studies. However, if you get paid as a research assistant (as an example), you are actually working for the university. That is my understanding. Perhaps others can comment.

Remember the RA job is also a part time job so you should take that into account also.

So for example, I am not a RA but a TA, so my research work is not counted as work experience. My teaching is.

Thanks so much for your response!

It was a part-time job and the salary came from the Sate (I am referring to the research work during my Master's programme)....so I guess I can also count this as my work experience!

yep. you need to find the appropraite NOC for it. it could be research assistant or researcher or something like that.

good luck.

Thanks so much!

Not with an intention to intrude but could you pls let me know when did you apply and status of your application as on date? Sorry once again! Thanks!
