Hi, I am Hongkonger who is now considering the new lifeboat VISA for HK.
I am currently working for a US company who is willing to offer the remote opportunity under Canada.
However, they don't have branch under Canada so I need to set up a company to work as a contractor in Canada.
I have done some research on this area.
IRCC defines the work as the following.
“Work” is defined in the Regulations as an activity for which wages are paid or commission is earned, or that competes directly with activities of Canadian citizens or permanent residents in the Canadian labour market.
So, if I work for my current company with the sole proprietorship and my current company pays as sole proprietor in Canada, can it be considered as work under IRCC?
I will need to have at least 1 year Canadian working experience in order to get the PR under that scheme.
If this relation can be considered as work, I can then be qualified after one year working in Canada. Is this correct?
I am about to apply that before the end of 2022. I am happy that Canada and all Canadians are welcome to offer these opportunities to us.
Thank you.
