Hi Dear Friends, do you know from where can I buy Winter Cloths and Snow suites from Dubai or sharjah?
I heard that the price here is much cheaper than Canada. In Specific, Do you know where can i Get Canada Goose Jackets from Dubai???

Thanks,

Interesting, I was just thinking of raising a similar question as I am planning to land during late January / early February. Appreciate if anyone can share his/her thoughts.

I was searching on the Dubai applicant forum and found this….. the post is old so not sure if this still apply. Checked several Lulu outlets at AUH and didn’t find anything relevant. Never been to Lulu, Al Barsha. If by chance you visit and find it useful then please let me know about it. Thanks.
Meanwhile hopefully some other member on the forum might come up with some other useful details.

Good Winter Clothing from Dubai?

May I suggest -- Lulu, Al Barsha (Not Lulu, Al Qusais). We do all our winter shopping there. Clothings fit for North American winters start arriving there during Nov/Dec every year... and we found them nice, well-priced, good for here, always.

Bay, Winners, Sears etc. r expensive. Unless the $$$ doesn't matter it'd be wise to shop at the various 'Outlet Malls/Stores' instead. Eg. Dixie Outlet Mall-Mississauga, Sears Outlet Store (various locations) and the like/s.

Hi

Whatever is sold in Lulu/Max/Splash and other similar outlets as winter clothing is targeted for UAE winters. For Canada in Jan/Feb when the temperatures will still be in single digit or negative, these will be of no use.

It is better to visit 'Tchibo' or 'Brands For Less' and buy one set of winter clothing from there. They sell stuff made for European winters. After landing in Canada, visit the local shops to buy more winter clothing specific to Canadian weather. For low prices, Outlet Malls are normally a good choice.

Just my thoughts. Anyone with different experience may differ/update.

I completely agree with the above. One of my staff members arrived from Dubai fairly recently. He brought what he thought was a very very warm coat that he had purchased in Dubai. That coat lasted him until early December and then he had to purchase a new one that was actually suited to Canadian winters. Wait until you're in Canada to buy.

I checked 'Tchibo' and 'Brands For Less' and they did have some really nice ski jackets and pants. Finding the right size is an issue so would need to visit multiple outlets. I hope it would be good enough for the first couple of days till the time I manage to get a more appropriate one from Canada.

Thanks,

Sir

Do not confuse your selves. I would suggest;

1). Spare CAD $ 1000/- for shopping of this type of stuff for you and family
2). If anyone can manage stopover in London UK - Go to Mark & Spencer or to Primark - You can shop for a good quality stuff in CAD $ 1000/- (almost double than from Canada) - As clothes in UK are cheaper than Canada.
3). Or Manage a stop over in any US city , and go straight to Wal-Mart

Getting US or UK visa for any one having Canadian PR Visa is not an issue.

As far as my experience serves , quality and prices of clothes are the best in UK

If any one can get under thermal wears from Jockey Pakistan , their store contact in UAE is http://www.jockey.ae or www.jockey.com.pk

I would not buy a coat in the UK. UK winters are much warmer than Canadian winters and UK coats may not be suitable for Canadian winters.

It is incorrect to say that getting a US or UK visa is easy after you have PR. New permanent residents with non-visa exempt passports are still often refused US visitor visas. Once they have established themselves in Canada and lived here for 6 months or more - it tends to be much easier to get a US visitor visa. However at the beginning, it can still be quite difficult.

Agree with Scylla. There is also a VERY big difference in the style of winter in the UK. It's normally very wet, with occasional snow. The clothing is geared to this, being waterproof but not overly warm.
Canada on the other hand is much drier during the winter and very much colder..

I find my Canadian winter-wear much too hot for use in the UK...

My dear friends, Toronto is the warmest city in Canada and even here the weather can be as bad as -35C. Chances are you wont find clothes for this type of weather in the gulf. Clothings bought in Canada are specifically made for the canadian weather so it is best to buy these from there. A good jacket would cost anywhere around CAD 40 and snow suit for a child would cost 40 from Walmart. A better jacket however, will cost more, as much as CAD 250 from the North Face.

If anyone is coming in winter then please also remember to bring some medicines for cold flu and fever as the weather can be unforgiving for people coming from warmer regions.

God bless,

You my friend have definitely not been to Vancouver then :P

Nope but looking forward to the experience. ;)

The winter has been really tough this year in Toronto, with temperatures falling to as low as -37. Sorry to say, its not a good time to land for new comers!!
