Hi all, I am considering to change my existing program within the same institution and in the same field of study. I was told that some of my subjects can enjoy the credit transfers, but some of them cannot. I see there will be courses offer in the coming Summer Semester, however, I am concerning if I take only 2 courses in the summer Semester, will it affect my future PGWP application since IRCC require the candidate should maintain the full-time student status in the academic semesters unless it is the last semester.

Anyone can share their experiences or you have any ideas about it? All comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

(To make it more understandable, I draw the tables for your reference.)

Original
Year 1
Term 1 (Full Time- 26 credit hours)
Term 2 (Full Time- 29 credit hours)
Year 2
Term 3 (Full Time- 28 credit hours)
Term 4 (Full Time- Coop option- 3 credit hours)
Term5 (Full Time - 28 credit hours)

If I take summer courses
Year 1
Term 1 (Full Time- 17 credit hours)
Summer Term (9 credit hours (scheduled break- not a regular semester) <----Will this semester matter to the future PGWP application? How can we/ IRCC interpret it is a full time or part time semester?
Term 2 (Full Time- 29 credit hours)
Year 2
Term 3 (Full Time- 28 credit hours)
Term 4 (Full Time- Coop option- 3 credit hours)
Term5 (Full Time - 28 credit hours)

Talk to your academic advisor
i have talked to the advisor... theoretically, the advisor mentioned that if the courses are taken in schedule break (like summer holiday), that will be fine for IRCC, because it is the planned break for the program.

so is there anyone have this experience as well?

The problem is not your summer term, its whether or not you will be considered Full time for the term you decide to take less credits

i have raised this concern to the advisor because i will take 2 courses in the summer, and she emphasized this is the scheduled break so that it is my own choice to take additional courses, so it still fulfills the requirement of IRCC, as long as all of my scheduled regulate terms can keep sufficient credit hours to maintain me as a full time student.
