Hello,

My boyfriend and I are applying for PR under a common law relationship. In July we'll have lived together for a year. I am planning to travel alone for 4-6 weeks in May and I'm wondering if this will jeopardize our year together in a common-law relationship. I'll still be on the lease and paying rent but technically i won't be living with him for 4-6 weeks. Anyone know if that might be a problem? He'd come with me but with visas we're concerned about re-entry into Canada.

Thanks for your help!!

hello!
sorry i can't help you, i have same kind of situtation, so hopefully someone can help us!
my bf is canadian citizen and he has to travel cause of his work(since oct. 9weeks now). now im with him for next 3months, his company is paying everything here. do we still qualify under common-law class?
can sponsor travel during the process?

thank you soooo much!

you're allowed to travel for short time periods but i'm not exactly sure what they are.... maybe if you have a good reason for the travel and reason why you couldn't both be together. They may look at it on an individual basis... i am in kinda the same situation except we travelled together but it was for 2 months and we had no lease or no apt at the time but i think it's going to be ok since we were together!
Just give all the reasons why you had to travel.

Status aside, can you not postpone your trip? ::)

I will postpone if i have to but i've been looking forward to it forever and this is my brief window of opportunity to do it.
