Will Refusal for Visitor's Visa affects spousal sponsorship?

Hello,

We processed my girlfriend's visitor's visa application last month but unfortunately, we got refused. We are planning to get married next year and I was told that we might have issues when I sponsor her. is that true?

Details:

1. I asked one of our friends to invite her here and my name was not indicated on the form that I am one of the persons that she will be visiting. We just put to visit friends.
2. She has a brother in another province but he refused to give her the invitation letter that is why we opted for a friend of ours.

No it does not affect your sponsorship process. I've friends who had their visa's refused a few times in the past but their spouse visa's were processed without any trouble.

You will have to mention about the refusal in your sponsorship application though.
