Hi,

Does anyone know if getting a new LMIA / work permit will cause any harm to a CEC (EE) application which uses 600 points from a previous LMIA / work permit?

The long story: I have a LMIA-based job offer and used that to get 600 points to get an ITA in Express Entry. Applied for PR and got an AOR end of Nov 2015. Another company is currently offering a better job, is willing to go through another LMIA and get me another work permit so that I can work for them. My original work permit is valid till 2017. My background check is already in progress and I'm hoping to get a PPR soon, within the next couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if the new LMIA / work permit will invalidate my CEC (EE) application.

I found a few similar questions in this forum but none of them seemed to talk about LMIA-based issues, thus this new thread.

I hope the community can help me out here with my dilemma.

Thanks!

From the legal point of view, you will still have 600 points with a new job offer, and according to the rules it should be valid at the time of ITA - so nothing wrong with that.

However, from the logical point of view and knowing the bureaucracy i would not risk changing job myself at this stage...

you have pretty much 2 options:

1. Wait for PR
2. Talk to a consultant

I guess waiting 30-90 days is quite normal for a good candidate... so... so..

Good luck
