Will I be on "Implied Status" once I apply through EE, even though I have a valid work permit?

Hello,

I am currently on a closed work permit working in a canada, which allows me to only work for the specific company who sponsors my permit. This work permit is valid until the end of december 2022. I was invited to apply for PR through Express Entry and my question is, will I be on "Implied Status" once I send in my application, so that I am allowed to switch Employers freely? Or will I not be on Implied Status because I still have a valid work permit until the end of 2022?

Basically, I wanna switch employers as soon as possible, but not sure if i have to wait until i have the final PR

Once you submit your PR application and you are deemed eligible, you can apply for a BOWP https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio.../extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html

I would wait until you receive your PR because if in any situation your application gets rejected, medical or anything else, your BOWP is no more valid

thank you for your answer. i went through that checklist on the website, and it seems i would not be eligible for a BOWP, since my current work permit does not expire within four months or less. good to know though !

You will only have implied status once you apply for a BOWP.

You need an approved BOWP to be able to switch employers.
