Hi:

Posting on behalf of a friend!

" I’m a protected person from Yemen, my refugee claim was approved, and when I applied for PR I included my wife and kids as well.

My wife is Saudi citizen and we would need to travel to Saudi Arabia for family funeral. My wife is on visitor record which will expire Feb 28, 2019. She has already applied to renew it and we’re still waiting for an answer.

For some strange reason she wasn’t able to apply for TRV from inside Canada as that option wasn’t available when you login online to IRCC. Plus the processing time is way too long for the Visitor Record renewal.

My concerns are:

If we travel, can she apply for TRV from Saudi Arabia? chances?

Will this travel affect our PR application? which already in process (sent medical / fingerprint and Husband is the main applicant through Refugee)

What is the worst case scenario if she’s not granted TRV from Saudi Arabia?

Can we included the PR application number/info when applying for the TRV? "

Thank you all in advance,

It is pretty rare for family members to be able to join a protected person before PR. There are pretty good chances that a TRV could be denied and she would need remain in Saudi until she gets PR. She actually isn't a temporary visitor so a TRV could be refused for that reason. It is up to you whether you want to risk it.

Thanks for your input.

She is not a protected person, the husband is thought, which he included her as spouse in the PR application.

They understand that its at the IRCC discretion, but Can't the TRV be granted based on the PR being in process?

They have 3 children, 2 with travel documents (just like the father) and an infant who's Canadian citizen.

The fact that the PR application is being processed likely decreases the chances of getting a TRV because they are not temporary visitors. Haven't looked back at your posts to see how they arrived in Canada but they got really lucky the first time.
