Wife staying in Canada after we send in sponsorship forms?

Every time my wife has came to Canada she gets a visitors record, and only gets at max 30 days.
Would they go easier on us and give her a longer amount of time if we show them that we have sent in sponsorship forms? I just want her to stay up here with me as much as possible during the process.

There's several people on here that have extended their status. If you share a bit on the background situation (country of citizenship, type of visa, etc) folks with similar situations are more likely to chime in with specific helpful advice.
