Wife on a open work permit. Eligible to purchase and run a business ?

So, i am on a closed WP tied to an employer till PR is approved while wife was given an open WP for the same duration. (both MPNP nominated).

Can my wife purchase a business or enter into a business partnership such as a Tim Hortons or a Subway franchise with a citizenship and reap the benefit of profit while she is on an open WP ? Can she work for the same company as well and get paid as well ?

Don't think you need a work permit to purchase or run a business.

Work permit = can be employed

If you only get dividend from your business, then it should be ok. If you want to be 100% sure, check with an immigration lawyer.
