Hello All,

For those who are out of Canada, how is it possible to get an LMIA approved job offer when companies are not willing to go through the LMIA process .I have got responses that "your profile is very good, but we need to you to be here " kind of responses from all provinces.
Can anyone help me understand ,If I am an Engineer with over 15 years of global credible experience, then why should this be a criteria in the EE prog or even the PNP program? How can one secure a job if you are living abroad? It seems for the last 1 year that the Provinces are sending NOI to those who are already have job offers or are currently living there after doing a studycourse.

Your advice is highly appreciated !

I believe there was a year-end report recently where most LMIA-supported immigrations were for food service workers. They can find experienced engineers who already have legal status in Canada. The job offer requirement does not fulfill a profile of your type.

Advice: focus on immigration pathways that don’t require a job offer. It’s hard to predict when it’ll happen so you just have to check this forum when new programs open. Although your hurdle is that some provinces require you to be licenced. Your window, since you’re not in your 20s, is also getting smaller.

A job offer/LMIA is not required to apply through EE.
It's not a criteria, just gives you some extra points.

Quite frankly I have paid Canadian taxes for 50 years and I was born here. You have not contributed anything to Canada. A LMIA is a labour market impact assessment. Shouldn't I with that 50 years of contribution get the first shot at good jobs? Or have I just been working to cater to foreign students? Sorry to say folks that is the attitude; remember you are guests here. We owe you nothing.
Remember provincial licenses for any Engineer. You must pass exams before you are allowed to practice.

Why you ask ? Because the Government of Canada has a obligation to help people already legally here in Canada first to get first crack at those jobs before offering those jobs to foreigners who btw have not contributed in anyway in taxes to Canada .
Why would the Government put foreigners needs ahead of someone already legally here ? More than likely because that’s what Governments do around the world for their citizens and legal residents .

But still Canada handout money to organizations such as Nextstop that offers pre-arrival programs to people haven't landed in Canada. These people have not contributed anyway in taxes to Canada.

As well , we all can remember how the hiring of foreigners before citizens and permanent residents became let’s say a “ hot potato “ for the party in power at the time and the public’s reaction and the political fallout that occurred. The last thing the government wants , particularly in a federal election year is for this to happen again . The government I’m sure is aware how sensitive the public’s perception is on immigration, particularly recently , and rightly so, they do not want to stir the hornets nest, and hire foreigners before citizens and permanent residents
As for funds for next stop, it is something I’ll be mentioning to my MP, who btw is Liberal and only won my riding by a scant 1000 votes

You are talking about something completely different than I was. I was saying I don't think an immigrant should be put at an equal footing with a tax paying citizen as far a jobs go. I have no problem with Canada fully funding a great organization such as Nextstep (YMWCA); "We are dedicated to helping you adapt and integrate into Canadian society".
You see Nextstep costs the Government money, but it is a cost savings in the long term. The better integrated you are the more you contribute to Canada's economy. Hence you save the Government money.

On the contrary, I have an open view if an immigrant should be put at an equal footing with a tax paying citizen as far as jobs go. It's skeptical if the funding would help every immigrants to adapt and integrate into Canadian society. Only time would tell if there is such relationship between immigrants's integration in society contributes to Canada's economy. We will see if it is a cost savings in the long term.
