WHY DO I HAVE TO ATTACH SOME ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS WHEN I SPONSOR MY HUSBAND FROM PAKISTAN? WILL MY ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS BE RETURNED?? AND DO YOU GUYS KNOW THE TIME LIMIT HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE ROUGHLY?? PLEASE HELP??

Perhaps because it is TOO EASY to fake a copy. Ours was processed in Manila, we received NO original documents back from them. Only supporting proofs such as photos, etc. were all returned to us.

The current posted approximate timeline for Pakistan is 33 months.

So what happens in case I don't provide original documents and they do no return it? 33 MONTHS??? OMG THATS FREAKIN LONG TIME.

Yes, it is a very LONG process. It takes a lot of patience and can be very stressful (even with patience) to go through the sponsorship process. I'll be blunt here, I'm sensing from your tone that you may not be up to the task (of sponsorship). If you don't provide originals where they request it, they will either a) send your application back as "incomplete", (and when you return it as complete finally you start at bottom of the pile again) or b) simply ask for those missing documents again, in which case you're delaying your application even further.

Best to ask in one of the CHC Islamabad threads, generally for Pakistani applicants - its 32 months ( some even longer ) ie., with proper paperwork as going by others experience, Pakistani applicants are heavily scrutinized

That's a good idea. I added 1 month for Stage 1, (which is not included in the processing time abroad).

Pakistan has more stringent requirements for documents because it's a high marriage fraud/refugee region, terrorism concerns, and the documents produced by the region are highly suspect and some are fraudulently produced. They don't want to let in anyone who is a potential terrorist.

Well for you as a sponsor, I DO NOT believe have to submit anything in original (Photocopies showing your identity is fine).

I have filed for my spouse from Pakistan. The only original I have provided is "Birth Certificates from NADRA" and the rest all photocopies. I would suggest everyone to NEVER submit anything else in original. To show legitimacy , I have seen some if not a lot of people submit their sponsoring spouse's educational credentials in original. Please never do that. Cause if they do not return (Which may happen) it can put you in a situation or if you need your docs for any other purpose and have to request them back, you may get your file delayed un-necessary.

The best practice (In my opinion) is to provide them with attested photocopies from an authorized notary. In your case you will need to submit the following two in original (Recommended):
1- FRC "Family Registration Certificate" . This proves you both are married, as it shows yourself and your spouse at one place and is considered to be a government issued doc.
2- Birth certificate of your spouse (NADRA).
3- Now a days, NADRA also issues your marriage certificate. So it is again advisable to get one and PROVIDE CIC WITH AN NOTARIZED COPY UNLESS ASKED FOR ORIGINAL.

Its better to post your questions to the threads (Pakistan applicants) where people have great experience to advantage from.

I hope this helps, good luck and if you have any questions, feel free to send me a private message. Cause with so many threads, I have a tendency to forget to the threads I have answered :-[.

^^
You do realize you have advised exactly the opposite of what CHC is asking for, there is a reason they have a specific instruction section just for Pakistani applicants. What you did was your personal choice [and I have nothing against that] but it is best to follow what instructions are provided, that way there aren't any unnecessary delays due to not submitting what was asked.

The processing time is already a pain in the butt no need to add additional delays by not following the instructions.

In addition what do you need your original docs for ?
Nikah Nama: You have 2 additional sets even if you submit one.
Birth cert: You don't need that anymore since you have CNIC.
Your education docs: Get notarized copies and keep them in case you need them. Every other institute now days have downloadable copies available.

There is no reason to not submit original docs, save yourself of the trouble.

Everything you submit will be returned as it is during or after your process is complete. Check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp for official processing times.

P.S: Please don't use all caps in your comments on any forum, its rude and annoying.

Perhaps from Pakistan it is all returned. For readers from other VO's however, I can attest to the fact that (from Manila for example) we received NO original documentation back, only supporting proofs like photos, etc.

That is strange, did you guys contact them to send original docs back once your process was completed ?

Nope. Like you suggested in a previous post, we don't need them anymore and/or can get replacement originals from the appropriate issuing office, if we do.

On the first page of the Appendix A , country specific instructions, it says very clearly that Pakistanis must send originals of ALL documents. What you're suggesting will delay people even more than the 32 months that they have to endure already. I'm very worried for you because now your application will probably be delayed many times over because they're going to keep asking you to re-submit original, and then you're gonna have to go through the super slow authorities in Pakistan.

Even worse, they could even return your entire application.

Basic advice for everyone, regardless of Pakistan or not, submit originals for everything unless it's optional.
