My wife, who has a permanent resident status in Canada, would like to invite her mother, in China, to come and visit and meet her grandchildren for the first time since they were born. We were wondering who should write the invitation letter. Should I, an employed Canadian citizen or her, a non employed permanent resident home maker write the letter? Thanks.

Then both you and your wife sign the invitation letter and invite them to come to Canada. You could show evidence of your family income such as Notice of Assessments.
