Which VISA for a Research Assistant?

Hi everyone! I'm studying in the Netherlands and I received an offer for working full-time for 3 months as Research Assistant at the University of Ottawa during the summer.
Can I go there as Visiting Graduate Student (holding a Study Permit) and working in-campus for more than 20 hours a week? Or do I need a Work Permit?

You are not studying therefore you don't need a study visa.
You need study permit if you are studying for more than 6 months.
You need a work permit.
