Hi all,

I want to immigrate to Montreal as soon as I can (probably in 3-4 years). I've only recently graduated however, and now have two options for my life. I wondered which you think would be most beneficial in gaining me entry to Canada?

Option 1. An analyst position with a very good, young social investment company in London (they employ the best of the best and occupy an emerging, growing field, however my position is oviously at an entry level and ther company isn't well-known yet)

Option 2. A PhD in psychology, specifically looking at how to encourage people to use less energy. This is at a good school (ranked around 100 in the world, top 20 in the UK)

I also hold an undergrad from Oxford. Do you think that might help me at all, or is the place where you gained your degree insignificant?

For immigration purposes Oxford doesn't make a difference. In job market a little, I graduated from LSE (MSc-Distinction), UCL & QMUL (joint) BSc(first class) but Canadian employers just ignore that. Analyst position with which firm? I worked in M&A and project finance in London before immigrating to Canada with leading firm in EU, Aus & NZ, and MENA but not too active in North America- couple of deals I was involved in worth near to billion. If its tire-1 US bank or BarCap or HSBC then go for it experience will these will help Nither from lloyds nor small boutique firm experience will be to great-except the firm is well known and active in N.America.

Immigration to Montreal is possible with Investment experience.
