Hi,
I am currently applying for finance jobs in the US and Canada. I got contacted by a company in Vancouver for an interview and I want to know what can I say to the interviewer if he (or an interviewer in another company) asks me when I may be able to start work if they offer me the position.
My situation is the following: I am 33 years old, married and resident of Puerto Rico (US citizen). My wife is 31 years old and will also be looking for work if I am able to land a job in Canada. This is where it gets a little complicated for me. My mother-in-law is a Canadian citizen (born in Canada and adopted by a Puerto Rican family at a young age) who resides in Puerto Rico. My wife is a Canadian citizen since she is the first generation born outside of Canada. However, she has not applied for her Proof of Citizenship and currently does not have any paperwork that officially identifies her as a Canadian citizen. My brother-in-law does have all of his paperwork (Proof of Citizenship, Passport) that identifies him as a Canadian citizen and is currently studying in Toronto with the intention of staying permanently in Canada after finishing studies.
My question is: What are my options here? Can my brother in law sponsor us since he is currently a resident in Canada? Can a potential employer sponsor me? Should I wait until my wife applies for her Proof of Citizenship and get the family class sponsorship?
Any help or clarification will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
