Hi there,

The application process is way to complicated, and there are times you can never foresee which way is better...

Our story; I had PR application was already placed in early 2014. It all processed well, and recently I've obtained approval for Permanent Resident Visa, and I have been asked to make entry to Canada before Mid-June 2016. All is fine and clear up to here.

In mean time, I have a serious relationship with a person whom I fell in love for more than a year. During this period of time, we lived together for long terms, but all is less than 12 months; however we are planning to marry soon in early 2016.

On the other hand CIC is persistently asking if there is any change or potential change in my marital status. Yes there is a high potential, but none of us want this information to cause further delay on an already approved / processed application.
What to do:
1. I make an entry to Canada, and complete PR processing period; then after
A. my proposed spouse comes to Canada on a tourist visa, and we marry in Canada, and then I apply inland sponsorship for PR together with OWP -SCLPC- for my legal spouse, while mean time we have to apply for tourist visa extension, until we get acceptable permit and status in Canada...
b. I return back to home country after completing PR process. We marry there. And we place an spouse sponsorship application forum outside of Canada.
2. We marry before I make entry to Canada to complete my PR process, and I inform CIC accordingly to cover my spouse's status...

The persistence of CIC asking me "if there are or will be changes in your life circumstances before using your visas, such as: Family status (e.g. marriage or common-law union, divorce, ......"

I will be very much happy to collect your opinions, and outcome of your experiences... So that we will successfully re-schedule our marriage date for a happy ending...

Thank ahead...

As a PR, you need to be in Canada to sponsor your spouse.

It would likely be easier and would mean less time apart if you get married first, then return your visa to CIC and add your spouse. That way you would both get PR at the same time.

If you decide to land and then either get married in Canada or your home country, you would have to sponsor your spouse. Depending on your country of origin, it may make more sense to apply outland. Note that a person can be in Canada but apply outland.

Do NOT get married, then land as a PR with your current visa. Your spouse will be forever barred from being sponsored and you could lose your own PR status.
