Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and early in the process of applying for PR through family class sponsorship. I am a U.S. citizen and my husband is a Canadian citizen who's been residing in the U.S. for ~15 years but we will be moving to Canada upon my receiving PR.
My question is: what office will process my outland spousal PR application? I've been reviewing the CIC website to try and determine an expected processing time for my application. It lists numerous visa offices in the Americas, and I'd assumed that the New York office would process my application since it's closest to me (I live in Georgia). But now I'm reading things that make it sound like CPP-Ottawa will process it. I'm HOPING that's the case, as CPP-Ottawa's processing times are much shorter than New York's, but I can't figure it out. I saw a few other forum posters saying that Ottawa is the only office that processes spousal PR applications for U.S. residents, but if that's the case, why does CIC Canada even list processing times for spousal applications in New York and Los Angeles? Are NY and LA processing spousal applications for a different type of visa, rather than PR? Sorry the confusion - and thanks for your help.
