Hi Everyone,

I searched in the forum about my question below and could not find relevant answers. Hence started a new topic...

I have been an IT development Manager (0213) for the past 7 years and I have the experience letter to support that. However, my foreign work experience was as a developer(2174) in my previous company, more than 10 yeas ago. So, Im not sure which primary NOC I should use while creating the EE profile. Can someone quide me?

Thanks in advance

Use (0213) as it is the latest and most relevant to the progress of your career path.

Thatguy56, thanks for your reply. In that case, will my foreign work experience considered(as it is under different NOC)? I dont want to cannot put that under 0213

That was more than 10 years ago. Irrelevant to your PR application.

Why not? You do have valid reference letter for the employment that matters to your PR application.

Because my score could go lesser than 400, in which case I may have to forget about ON nomination

Because of not including that experience of more than 10 years vintage? That wouldn't have got you any points anyways. Not sure if I understand your concern here.

I didnt know this 10 years rule. I was hoping that I could add the foreign work experience and get some points for that. Now that it is irrelevant, I cannot claim those points. Am I missing something Asivad?

Nothing. I wasn't ware of that. Hope the 7 years of Canadian experience compensates in lieu of this FWE going off your application.,

This is where it got confusing. If you have 7 years of foreign work experience (FWE) in the last 10 years under NOC 0213, not counting experience more than 10 years old makes no difference to your CRS. CRS maximizes at 3 years of FWE.

ok, let me try to make it clearer. My past 12 years experience is in India. Out of which the latest 7 years is as application development manager..If I was an CEC, I would have never worried about CRS :-)

You do know that foreign work experience is simply experience acquired outside Canada not necessarily experience gained outside your country of usual residence. Right? So your 7 years of FWE can get you a good CRS if you can combine that with CLB 9 and a Masters degree ECA (if you have one of those).

oh..oh...I didnt know that...I was thinking(as you rightly suspected) it was gained outside of one's country of residence...Thank you for enlightening me...you actually made my day :-)
