Hello,
I am preparing to migrate to Canada.
My profile :
Over 9 years of experience as a software consultant.
Currently in the US on H1B since 2011.
Graduation from India (15 years of education) and a PG Diploma (Distance Learning)
IELTS : Scheduled to give in Jan '13
My options in the US are limited to GC under EB-3 which has a priority date of 2002. So I thought I will take my skills to another country which would be more respectful and not be hung up on my 15 years of education.
I do not have an offer of employment from a Canadian employer
Amongst the many options available, I understand that for a profile like mine, FSWP is the way to go. However, CIC is not accepting new applications at the moment.
I also came across immigration programs of different provinces. This is what I am confused about. If one applies, to say Quebec, is the person tied to Quebec ? Can one not be employed in any other part of Canada ?
For a permanent residency will the person have to stay put in the province for 2 years ?
Also, once you get your PR then can you work anywhere in Canada/USA ?
Most of the threads I have read around here are pointed in different directions. Some already know which province they wish to apply to. Although there are many threads filled with information I think most of them are old ( I am not allowed to post links yet ).
Could someone please handhold me through this ? At least the initial steps ?
Which migration 'plan' would work for me ? What is the step-by-step procedure to migrate to Canada ?
The firms I have worked for have already evaluated my Education credentials and the evaluators have found my education to be equivalent of US bachelors in Ms. Should I be evaluating my credentials again ? Also, how long does the entire thing take ?
Cheers,
