Hi Friends,

I have my PR with a deadline to land by 3rd march, 2010. I have nobody of mine in canada. I have a daughter of 2.6 years old. What would you all suggest the best time to land considering all the aspects such as weather, job, and such...

Should we all go together or I should go first and let my family follow after couple of weeks/months...

Would be also greatful, if you could please suggest some good properties or estate companies in brampton, mississauga or scarborough..

SENIORS AND LANDED MEMBERS, PLEASE GUIDE.

Regards,
Danny

> I would suggest you to land in February, when Winter is leaving.

> You can also start looking for jobs OnLine i.e submitting your Cvs and all.

> Personally I would like my family to travel with me, but in your case you have a very young family. you can travel first and call the family later. Arrange for accomodation, getting familiar with the city understanding everything and then call the family.

> I would still say having your spouse around you does gives you confidence and it also drives you to do something. But lets see what others say.

Thanks capriraj for such a prompt reply...

However, I have seen on this forum from the experiences of seniors that generally companies in canada dont entertain you for jobs unless you have landed there... I wish i would be wrong...

I am from accounts field.. do you have any idea about the job opportunities in this field in mississauga, brampton or scarborough...

Regards
Danny

Thats what my poin is, if you register on most of the websites with a note stating when you will land, it will increase your chances for interviews and also if there are any other requirements they will ask you to prepare for it.

About the job situation, when I came to the UK 8 years back most of the Asians in the city where I live where doing labour jobs. I decided to work in my field(banking) only. I did some odd jobs in the begining, right now I work for a Bank as a FInancial Adviser.

It is entirely upto you how take the challenge, Search on google for jobs in accounts field in Missisauga and GTA.

WHICH IS THE BEST TIME TO LAND? OCTOBER OR FEBRUARY

I'd say, "immediately", upon receiving the visa/s...
The weather isn't a consideration, once u have chosen to migrate here u might as well deal with it from day-1. But landing one mustn't postpone, 'coz one never knows what might follow in the days to come. Situations (familial, job, travel scenarios, natural dispositions etc.) may change & u might be stuck.

Scene:
Booked tickets before 3 months, nearing the day of flight -a new business proposition required to delay the move plan; rescheduled -BA cabin crew went into strike; rebooked -Icelandic volcanic activity cancelled the flights. Result: Move considerable delayed; what if few more mishaps had occurred? -probably the visa might have expired [Lol].

Hi

End of February would be right time, simply because winter will start to recede at that time. However, please note, temperatures will continue to hover around minus till March. Winter clothing: ensure you perform sufficient homework before taking a call.

October is risky, you may not want your family to pass through the entire winter season almost immediately after landing.

All the best

I agree with Qorax, to not delay the landing and make it sooner, due to above reasons and regarding the cold Canada in General cold and we should adabt with that.

I agree with Qorax, plus you are landing before XMAS there are lots of 3 months temp and quick jobs available, through agencies. Weather is not bad try September if possible for you and during 3 months temp job you can find a permanent job may be surviving or in your field of interest. Good luck

Hi Gentlemen, I am so early to answer such a question as I am a May 2010 Applicant, but I took some advises from a Canadian who is staying in Edmonton, Canada a few minutes ago. He is my boss working with me. He said its better you make it as early as possible in August or September otherwise you will be landed into a very cold weather. But weather wont be a big issue if you have proper winter dressing. Avoid Dec/Jan/Feb that is the coldest months in western canada. It wond be much different anywhere in the country even if it is the east.

I do not have a clear idea on the oppertunities in Canada, but I've read from the websites that most employers prefers to recruit people from May to September.

Best of luck. Sans
