Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen, and my spouse is a South African citizen. We applied for Permanent Residency Family Class, when we were working in Australia last year. (2011). Since then, we have moved to Canada, and she is currently on a visitors permit.

We've received a letter saying I was approved as a sponsor and that her application was sent to the embassy in Sydney, Australia for processing because that was her home address on the forms when we applied.

My question....

So does this mean even though she is no longer living in Australia.....that it will still processed there? OR, will it eventually be sent to her home country of South Africa to be processed?

Theres a big difference in the Visa processing times (below), which is why I am asking.

Sydney --- 7 months
Pretoria, South Africa--- 23 months

Thank you in advance for any replies :)

The application will be processed in Australia. This means that if an interview is required, it will also be held in Australia.

Thank you for the response scylla :)

Since my spouse and I came back to Canada, we notified CIC about it with our new address in Canada. If an interview is needed, would it still even be an Australia, even they know we're in Canada now?

Thanks again :)

Still in Australia.

Its better off doing it this way anyways. She 'll get her PR quicker however she'll have to fly out as soon as they call. I wish i knew to apply outland when my spouse was here.

Thank you again for the responses.

Wow, well hopefully we don't have too.... but i guess we'll do what we have to do then, keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Tintin79---- How long did it take your spouse to get PR? what country? If you don't mind me asking.
