There are plenty of jobs in Edmonton but Vancouver has nicer weather. I do believe housing is still cheaper in Edmonton. Vancouver has a high percentage of asian immigrants while Edmonton is less diverse. If you have any medical problems, BC health will cover you only in 3 months time, Alberta health will cover you right away if you are moving from another country but of course that could be solved by temporary medical insurance.

Use http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/Intro_en.aspx to look for jobs and then you can see which city looks like they have more jobs in your field. You can go to http://www.mls.ca/ to see the price of real estate. Google classifieds ad to see price of rent or check out http://www.bwalk.com/

Okotoks, Alberta
Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

We emigrated from the UK to Alberta last October. We settled in the town of Okotoks, just south of Calgary. Some 10 months in, it's feeling like a good decision. A nice town, good community feel, easy access to the Rockies with the most fantastic scenery and wildlife, easy to get around, etc. We're very happy. We keep a blog of our life out here as we experience it. Feel free to take a look - might give you a better feel for southern Alberta as a possible location.
