Hey guys - I have a slightly odd and specific question. I am currently living in Toronto and waiting for my husbands PR to get approved.. we only sent in the application a week ago. I'm thinking that when he does land here, we will move to BC as I've always wanted to live near the ocean and so has he. I was hoping that there might be some BC folk here that could help me out!
My question is: does anyone know of a nice, small(ish) town near the ocean where we can work and live affordably? I have a Masters degree in Education and he will be going to University/College when he arrives. I don't mind commuting too much, and I'd much rather a smaller town than a large, busy town. I've had enough of that with Toronto!
Any tips or suggestions would help!

A short form of what I'm looking for:
- Small town near ocean or on the outskirts of larger town
- Uni for my husband
- Affordable houses to buy/rent
- Job opportunities, education or general.

Thank you! :)

How about Sidney, BC which is an outskirt of the provincial capitol, Victoria, where University of Victoria is located?

BTW, Newfoundland is also a maritime province. Would you consider living near Memorial University on the end of the country?

I shall check out Sidney, thank you!
As it is, NFL or NS were my top choices over BC, as I adore the East Coast and would love to live in a small fishing village, but there are no job opportunities, or so I have been told..

sydney is good, but if you want more secluded area, search Ladysmith, BC
It's near Nanaimo(which has Vancouver Island University). The city is growing and has public park on the water.
