Hello
On Wednesday, my husband presented himself to the CSIS office. It was actually a joint meeting with RCMP, CBSA and CSIS. It went very well. My husband was upfront, transparent and honest. There was no major concern and they were so friendly and sympathetic. He was released and he is with me at home.
According to the advice given there, we are facing new complex options. If he claims refugee status, it will be rejected automatically because of the third safe country treaty and he will be sent back to USA. We don’t feel comfortable with that option. He can voluntarily leave Canada soon before he gets deported ..But to where? This is the question. His ticket was actually cancelled automatically because of the mistake of the airlines. This is because he needed/still needs a visa just for the transit time in Europe or USA in his way to Cairo. CBSA cannot help in that option. They can only help to take him back to where he came from (USA).
What should we do?

I know your not comfortable with him going back to the US.But it may be your only choice.I have watched your thread for sometime now, and i feel for you.Can he go back to the US as a refugee there, live close to the border as he possicly can to you.And then sponsor him outland via buffalo?
Cause as you say,he cant travel without a visa...
Is there any route he can travel to get to Cairo via other countries where he does not need visas.
Like im not sure but a travel agent may be able to get him there via countries he does not need visas.(just a suggestion)
And they said they can help him get to the US.
Wow this is just so messed up, and i know you love him and are having a baby with him,and i wish someone knew ways to get him here, but if immigration says there is no way, then none of us here could tell you different.
Other than trying to get him to Cairo.

Maybe he could be a refugee in the USA or try for some kind of temporary refugee status in another country where he can get a direct flight. I'm surprised he can't get a direct flight from Canada to Cairo and that he would have to stop in the US or Europe..

Try contacting your Member of Parliament and asking for advice. I would also suggest going to the Open Door Society in Saskatoon and asking for advice. They are there to help immigrants and refugees.

Hi, glad that things went well at the interview!

He could go via Jordan and obtain an air transit visa when he arrives, however, he needs a visa to land in Cairo - does he have one? If not, can he apply for one or is there anywhere else he is thinking he could go?
