Hello! I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my spouse.

Should I state a specific city? I know that I want to live in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario when I return but I haven't decided exactly . Can I put my top 3 choices or should I be specific?

especially since on the generic application form the principal applicant has to fill, they have to state city/town they intend to live. So would they need to match up exactly?

Thanks for your help!

I just put our first choice, also GTA, with our plan, showing that we understand how the job market works for our respective fields and how we plan to support ourselves before we get jobs etc and not rely on government assistance, as per the undertaking.

My understanding is once approved and PA gets CoPR, as long as you are not going to Quebec and the job / financial plan was seen to be sound enough to approve, it isn't written in stone.

Perhaps someone else who is much further down the process can illuminate further.

I am in the same boat, have a plan to get some assistance / hired with some family help WHEN the visa is approved as I have the financial capacity to wait in my outland country until my wife is approved. She will also be transferring to the Canada division of her company but this sort of process cannot start, until the visa is approved.

I mean it's cool. As long as i have a solid understanding of what to put down in order to have them not only believe our plan to be viable, but also the proof that we will indeed come back when the Visa is approved.

Can you elaborate on what you included as "understand on how the market works in our respective fields"? ;as it sounds like you won't actually apply for positions until you are there. My situation will be I will start applying/working with my family when I can actually plan to go :)

I think you can choose wherever you want unless it is Quebec then it's a different process. If you are saying that you will initially stay with relatives when you arrive you should obviously use that city as your plan. When you land they will ask you the same Q, if your planned location has changed advise them at that time.

We just laid our clearly the regulatory and professional bodies for our fields, related job sites, where to skill up educationally for our fields etc. to show that we know what we need to do to work (be registered), how to find work (relevant job sites) and how to improve prospects (where to get extra qualifications / certificates etc.). Not all professions require regulatory registration.

Likely, spouse / PA and me (SP) won't start looking for work until we are there, but might see if anything comes good when CoPR is issued.

Alright thanks a lot. This makes a lot more sense. You want to include some details on research/interest since you might not be in a position to show actual job application emails or whatever.

Appreciate it :)
