Hi Everyone!

I'm looking to move to Canada with my partner in the not too distant future. Thankfully due to the FSW programme changes I am now eligible under the Financial Analyst 1112. I currently work for a multinational insurance company with offices in Toronto so an internal move is also on the table.

So my question is when do I start to get things moving, we have a lot of saving/debt clearing to do so realistically its going to be a few years yet but I have my heart set on it. What are the first things we need to get sorted? Qualification appraisals, career networking, etc etc....
I have started to look at getting Canadian Insurance qualifications (CIP with the Insurance Institute of Canada to supplement my UK Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications)

Thanks in advance guys and anything else I need to provide just shout

Chris ;D

You should assume it's too late to apply under 1112 for this year. CIC is accepting only 300 applications for this occupation and given the popularity of this occupation, I think it's almost definite that more than 300 qualifying applications have already been received since CIC began accepting applications at the start of May.

Just because occupation 1112 is on the list this year doesn't guarantee it will be on the list in future years. It may be or it may not be.

At this point an internal move through your company is likely your best bet.

You should read through the detailed requirements on the CIC web site to find out what information you need to provide as part of an application to immigrate to Canada. For example, assuming you are the principal applicatant, you will have to take an English test (or French if you prefer). There are a number of other documents you'll have to gather and the CIC web site is your best source for this information.
