Hi. I only have 3 months left before I would qualify to apply for PR.

When should I start collating documents for my application? Is 3 months too early?

What are the validities of the following documents:

1. police certificate
2. birth certificate
3. divorce certificate
4. medical certificate (1 year?)

I am currently living in Canada with my partner (sponsor), is it still better to apply OUTland or INland at this time? If I chose the OUTland route, my VO would be in Vienna. Are there cases when the sponsor is also requested for an interview?

thanks!

you will want to check out the thread for vienna to get a good idea of processing time. my guess is it's in your best interest to apply OUTLAND, as it currently takes an extreme situation for Inland to be beneficial.

while it's never too early to start compiling your info, there are some things to keep in mind:

1) the application forms are updated regularly, and it's common for applications to be returned because of outdated forms. therefore, while it's completely ok to use forms now for "practice", it's important the forms that are sent in the package are the most current when you send it in.

2) police records are only valid for 3 months, so it's important to time receiving it with when you plan to send your package. For outland applications, as long as CIC receives your package within 3 months of the record being issued, generally there is no issue.

3) the medical exam is valid for 12 months, and cic has the ability to extend validity to help the applicant land.

4) there are no expirations for birth, marriage or divorce certificates.

This good be a good time to get the translations done that you will need.
