im going to sponsor my wife, she lives in Uruguay and on the website for immigration it says that she needs a medical exam and we are wondering when does she need to get that exam because when she does the exam the doctor is the one that sends the papers so that there is no tampering so i wouldnt be able to submit it with my aplication

In my case I got my police record sent away and made my appointment for my Doctors visit at the same time. Next I had all my paperwork gathered and filled out.

Prior to my appointment date I received the police records, added that to the package. After the Appointment I received a letter from my Doctor sayint the medicals had been sent on to Canada. That letter was put in the package and sent off the next day.

The doctor had a three month backlog.

when i emmigrated to canada 9 years ago i seem to recal we were sent for (this is the UK) we had the choice of perhaps 3 medical offices to attend. one in Midlands and i think two in London. we went to midlands one. have things changed? can you attend any medical office now?

I did my medical in July 2012 and sent my application with the receipt of the medical in November. From my understanding, you have less of a delay if you send your application with the medical already done. But you have to be careful with the timing because I think a medical is only good for a year.

Medicals are only good for 6 months so make sure they're done at the very end.

This is incorrect. Medicals are valid for 1 year, however, it is right to say that the medical should be done (if possible) close to the time that you're ready to submit your application package.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, they're valid for 12 months. Link here -
